It has been a year since FOLK's last issue. When the tornado hit life stopped. The tornado came across the back valley wall of the farm and ripped a past clear through to the east. It left destruction and in the process my heart broke. For my entire life I had had such a deep pride of place of this land. Everything I had done with FOLK before was rooted in this land and my love for the communities around it. 2021 was the very best year. We hosted events and workshops and dinners and people came from all over. The farmhouse became a gathering space. The tornado ripped all of that away. The house stood surrounded by the wreckage. While we spent 2022 rebuilding a home came to life and a pride of place was slowly reborn. This issue comes from that journey.

The idea of small town life, slow living, handmade, and American made all go hand in hand. There is a thread that connects us with the present, the future, and the past. The land and the landscapes play center stage and the folks and their lives within the landscapes play the supporting roles. This issue dives into a pride of place and the building of home..the idea of home...wherever home might be.

From the journey here at the farm, to small towns and farmhouses across the US, from roadtrips, and from landscapes abroad in the english countryside this issue is one that will remind you why home is so important to us all.
